    Hi,
I am a mother of two beautiful girls, we live in Sydney and my youngest daughter has server dyslexia.
She started her first year of high school this year, very excited as she was attending a new school where no one new her and her problem (as she puts it). She spent less than a term in her new school when we were told that due to her dyslexia she could no longer attend the school as they don’t offer assistance. I felt this school would be different as when I researched it, I found that most of the students who attended have dyslexia and even her teacher was dyslexic…..
This all didn’t make sence but as my daughter who is 12 said to me they are missing out on getting to see what I can do if someone would just help me understand things clearer I have more to offer than just words….
Now left with no other choice but to homeschool her and pay a tutor $400 per week to help her learn how to read and do maths so as she may return to a school someday. I now take my daughter to 4 different people to assist her on her journey as she is suffering from depression and has built up a belief system that school is not safe not to mention her trusting in others. So here I am writing to you in hopes that I will receive some light at the end of this lonley dark tunnel. I have even contenplated moving to another country for a few years leaving half of my family here just to get some assistance for this amazingly gifted but slightly academically challenged girl…

    Dear Namaste
Thank you for telling us about your daughter and your wonderful devotion to helping her.
I bet your story will ring a bell with alot of us parents who,s dyslexic child who has such a hard time at school.
All we want for our kids is to see them happy and accepted in their school environment…and that the school recognises that these kids just need a teacher willing to understand that they are not dumb. When a teacher is willing to take the time to see how dyslexics learn they see that these kids are amazing people.
Namaste, I recommend that you contact Dawn at www. dawnmatthews@dawnmatthews.com and talk to her about the problems you are having. She will certainly offer you some great advice and help.
Remember, you,re not alone and if we keep fighting for rights of our kids,,,,eventually things will change for the better.
    Regards Gail
