Is APD the same as Dyslexia
From a parent
Hi, My daughter has been diagnosed with Auditory Processing Problems and short term auditory memory problems. However neither the Educational Psychologist, speech pathologist nor her teacher ever uses the term dyslexia for any child. Does this diagnosis mean that she has dyslexia?
Hi,
Auditory Processing disorder is the same as Auditory dyslexia, this is what they cal, it in the UK, so your daughter has dyslexia. If she also has short term visual problems, if she cannot recall the look of a word then it is very likely that she is full blown dyslexic. It does not matter what you call it. If she is dyslexic then she will benefit from the teaching in my, books and games. the back door approach is to try teaching her this way and if she benefits asking the school to do the same.
try teaching her my way and see what happens.
get back to me if i can be of more help.
